The top 5 SPA Hotels in the High Tatras, Slovakia
There, in the fairytale looking like mountains, you'll find the secret treasures of SPAs that'll take you to the journey that you'll never forget. Which are the best when you visit the most beautiful Carpathian part in central Europe? There is something for everyone.
Hotel Permon - Podbanske: If you are a person who says that size matter, you're up for a treat. 3 hours is simply not enough to enjoy everything. The vastest of the High Tatra SPA is situated right under the national symbol, a peak named Krivan. Looks familiar to the Lonely Mountain in the story from J.R.R Tolkien? Slovak say that every citizen should reach the top at least once in the lifetime and as a reward why not to recover and unwind in the Permon SPA.
There we enjoyed a 'Ceremonial' for the first time in our lives. Air circulated through the room with the eucalyptus and oak leaves accompanied by relaxing music with an optional after-smash. What an experience! Whether your body with a swim in the pond or cold pool. Not enough? Allow your skin soak up the salt in the cave, whilst laying on the chair. Fitbar finishes the whole visit with refreshments and nutritional solutions. All in the comfort of the SPA. 1 floor up and you can play bowling, sweat out in the gym.

Hotel Kontakt - Stara Lesna: Hiking, skiing or just a crazy family? Just around a corner, hidden in the Tatra forest are two jewels. One of them has got that make it stand out from the others. One of them offers a unique combination of unique Slovak folklore interior elements with state of the art wellness facilities. Coming down to the lower ground floor you'll meet a nice spinning watermill and hot tub what a nice first impression.
Of course the range of steam rooms, saunas and tepidarium is a must. A wooden staircase from the lounge bar takes you down to the pool area sweet wooden bridge connecting the centre of the pool with the poolside area. Outdoor doesn't stay behind, not at all. Hot tub next to the sauna and a tiny pond just top the everything up. Breathe a fresh mountain air and let your body soak in bubbles. Not only from the outside but when you order a bottle of champagne, your body experiences them inside out :)
What a treat and value for money.

Hotel Horizont - Stara Lesna: Now this is what we, SPA enthusiasts call SPAing. 3 hours limit? Forget it! We'd like to stay in the SPA all day. Lovely wide reception, poolside pods with probably the biggest jacuzzi that I have seen and water treatments and pool bar. Enjoy the cocktails whilst doing sitting inside of the pool. That's an idea, why not. Hydrating inside out :)
The SPA area is centred around a cooling pool. Traditional, dry sauna, steam room, Swedish bucket and infrared sauna, all designed in the dimmed setting making you calm and relaxed. The second part is something, combustible incense aromas stuck in the middle of the walkway, small jacuzzi and a waterbed wide enough for a couple with a heated option. Open another door and you'll find a place to sleep surrounded by the sound of the waterfall, covered in blankets on the lounge chairs. Wake me up tomorrow after all this.
And that is not the highlight. VIP Skylight Lounge is the name you'll never forget. Private zone on the roof of the hotel, starry sky, dry sauna, the jacuzzi is what we call mountain luxury in the palm of your hand. Whatever you do in the High Tatras don't miss out the exquisite vie on the Lomnicky Peak.
Probably the most romantic SPA spot in the High Tatras.

Hotel Lesna - Stara Lesna: Not the biggest in square meters but L'Occitane have made this place remarkable. Humble facilities, equipped with super hot Finnish sauna, steam rooms and experience shower will satisfy the needs of every SPA visitor, even a demanding one.
What we enjoyed the most was the concept of the massage area, treatment rooms and level of services. The facilities have been on the top of everything, chaning rooms, consumables and pretty much in the most modern finish. Wide rooms with own theme, story and probably the variety of treatment represent the endless combinations that won't ever bore you. Journey to genuine massage experience that stays with you for years.
The view on Lomnicky Peak and Slavkovsky peak is breathtaking.
Small but mighty.

Aquacity - Poprad: Now that's what we call a Waterworld. you won't find features from the famous movie but I can tell you you'll get lost in all that if you come there for the first time. Luckily the SPA is discretely separated and has a lot to offer.
Everything from the wide range of sauna and steam rooms will please your senses and what the body requires for recovery. Fire and Water Theme needs no comment. The cooling part has probably the best options that we may find in the High Tatras. 'Snow Cave' and 'Arctic Ocean' pool don't need further description or explanation.
If you are preparing for climbing the Everest (only joking) your body will benefit from the visit of the Cryocentre. Extremely cold conditions -120 degrees have, believe or not, metabolic weathering benefits.
Ideal for cold-loving maniacs and at the same time water-fun loving family
